From a poet, to a rapper, to a CEO of his own record label. Meet Day Real also known as Mr. Villain and Trap Eminem, the future of the hip hop industry. Emerging from the treacherous city of Newark, New Jersey, the nickname “Brick City” emphasizes the life and upbringing that many have to face. Day takes the rap game from an interesting angle. Being from a city where the predominant sound is Jersey Club & Drill music, he chose to go against the party delivery. He delivers an east coast flow with a fast rhyming pace and complex scheme over southern trap & drill influenced from the UK. He pays homage to raps’ founding fathers by approaching these instrumentals with a lyrical and poetic touch. He spreads the message of therapy and personal growth, as every song highlights a different mood and energy present from his life in those moments. Day started writing at the age of 10 with inspiration from poetry books. Being exposed to the streets at a young age altered the wellbeing of himself, and situations throughout his teens leading him to express his anger over beats at 14 years old. In 2018, he collaborated with veteran engineer HeBChi, whom he made 4 mixtapes and over 50 singles with. As the years passed and he kept sharpening his pencil, he eventually locked in with UK producer AjShowEm in 2022. Together they would release his first official single “Fashion” with UK Rapper Muni Bag, which was just the beginning of a beautiful future. Fashion’s reception did so well, they went on to drop Day’s debut album 2.0. Together they broke over 64,000 streams on Spotify alone. This album would send Day Real on tour from February to September of 2023 from Providence, Rhode Island to Columbus, Georgia, with every major city in between being hit up. In November, Day would go back to releasing singles hitting hard with “New Prophets” standing at 15,000 streams. The success of this banger would then lead into 2024, where more is to come.
